There are two main religions in Morogoro: Islam and Christianity. I have seen a Hindu temple, but generally the two I mentioned are the main ones here. Though there are large groups of people who in other parts of the world could not coexist peacefully, the people here have found a way and there seems to be no problems (at least none that I can see) between the two religions. People frequently ask us if we are Christian or Muslim (and consequently get baffled when we tell them neither).
So far, none of us have gone to church with our families, though we have been told that the shortest service here is Catholic and lasts for 3 hours. Even if I wanted to go to church, I probably wouldn’t go for that long.
Religion seems like an important thing here for the people, but it’s not something that causes major problems. Though, like I said above, this is from my perspective and I don’t know what’s really going on…
